An important part of a book scanner is the camera. If you have a good Canon camera and lens, you can also use it for a broader application, for example to digitize things.
We all have an archive, big or small. Documents, photo albums, loose photos, collections of books, magazines, interesting articles, postcards, coins, stamps, old papers and photos from an inheritance ...
Besides the fact that an archive or collection is necessary, valuable or of historical significance, it also takes up a lot of space. Year after year it piles up, because you don't just throw it away, especially if it has emotional value.
Digitizing is a good option and has several advantages, including:
This can be achieved with a relatively low investment.
The camera is the 'heart' of the scanner. It must be of good quality. If you have a good Canon camera, you already have the most important part in your hands.
In order to be able to capture books, documents etc. with the camera, a setup is needed where the object to be scanned can lie flat and is well lit, without shadows. The camera must be directly above the object.
Our archive setup, a copyboard and a column to which the camera can be attached is the easiest way. The two daylight lamps ensure good lighting.
Then we are still missing one component, and that is the software.
With our Copymaster software or Multidot software, various types of documents, photos, newspapers, magazines, you name it, can be digitally recorded in an easy way. Copymaster software has live view, so you can see live what will be scanned. You can pull a scan window to indicate exactly what you want to scan. The white balance can be set directly, so that the colors of the scan are true to life. And that is even more important if the scan is a replacement for the original.
If books, magazines or documents are not completely flat, a book cradle with glass plate can be added.
If you want to know whether your camera is suitable for scanning, if you want more information, or if you want to see the software live, you can always contact us. We will be more than happy to show you the possibilities!
